Each piece is solidly handcrafted from billions-of-years-old soapstone and is a unique item with its own grain pattern. The surface acts like a natural non-stick coating, repelling dirt and bacteria and hardly absorbing any odors. The material does not transfer any taste to the contents, unlike some metal or plastic bowls. The bowl has received multiple design awards, including the German Design Award and an International Design Award in Gold.

The bowl is dishwasher-safe and can also be easily cleaned in everyday use by simply rinsing it briefly. To use the cooling function, the bowl is filled with cold water or rinsed with cold water beforehand, as the soapstone stores the temperature. To gently warm wet food, the bowl can be briefly held under warm water before filling.
